Our Range of Awnings

12 October 2022

Along with our extensive selection of blinds and curtains, Sunblinds and Curtains also has plenty of options when it comes to awnings. This blog article will go into detail about the main types we offer. While they each have features that will suit different buildings and customer requirements, the one thing they have in common is being constructed from robust materials designed to survive and thrive in the punishing Australian climate.

Fixed-Canopy Awnings

As the name suggests, fixed-canopy awnings are the traditional sort of awning where a sturdy fabric sits in a fixed position on a metal frame. If your particular setting calls for a permanent covering to protect from the elements, then fixed-canopy awnings are probably the best choice. They represent a simple, elegant and long-lasting solution – no opening, closing or adjusting necessary. Fixed-canopy awnings never go out of style, either.

Folding-Arm Awnings

When you want to be able to go from full cover to zero cover (e.g. blocking the harsh summer sun versus basking in the mild winter variety), folding-arm awnings provide total shade control. Forms of this type of window furnishing – also known as retractable awnings – can be stored away when not in use, which will only prolong their lifespan. It’s also possible to have them motorised, which Sunblinds and Curtains can do for you.

Pivot-Arm Awnings

Again, as the name implies, pivot-arm awnings operate on a pivoting system and are able to extend out from the corresponding window in an arc (or retract in the same way). You’ll have seen pivot-arm awnings in place at many houses and workplaces, angling out from above a window. In this way, they create a shady barrier while still allowing the window to open outwards and permitting plenty of air to flow through.

Auto-Arm Awnings

Do you live in an especially windy area? Then auto-arm awnings might be the optimum window covering. Easy to adjust, auto-arm awnings automatically sit at a desired height when released. In high winds, they are designed to retract out of harm’s way. On top of these plusses, they block out the weather and prying eyes as well as other awnings.

Our Awnings Aren’t Just for Residences!

Just a friendly reminder that our robust, practical and attractive awnings aren’t only for residential homes. We can also install them in your place of business, where they’ll look just as good and be equally effective at blocking UV rays and rain, and improving things for all of those using the adjacent rooms and/or the outdoor areas beneath the awnings.
